Practices
Somewhere to say it at full volume.
Unfair, unfiltered, and sealed.
Sometimes writing isn't reflective. It's the message you cannot send, the reply you deleted, the whole day in capital letters. Venting on the page is a legitimate use of a journal — arguably the oldest one — and it has a strict requirement: no witnesses.
A vent only works if you can be unfair in it. Exaggerated, one-sided, unreasonable on purpose — that's the pressure leaving. The moment there's any chance of a reader, you start litigating instead of venting, drafting your case instead of emptying your head. And a vent that lives in a synced app is a strange artifact: your worst five minutes, timestamped, on someone else's infrastructure.
In The Sealed Journal the page can take it. Entries are encrypted on your device before they're stored; nothing analyzes your mood, nothing flags your language, nothing suggests you take a breath. Write it at full volume. Seal it. What you do next — delete it, keep it, laugh at it in a month — is entirely between you and the page.
The Typewriter Experience
The cursor stays. The text moves.
In Write mode, your cursor remains exactly at the centre of the screen. The page rises up to meet it. Past words fade into soft shadow at the edges, leaving the present sentence in clear focus. Switch to Read mode and the entry flattens into an evenly lit document — the fade is for writing; the flat light is for returning.
Radical Privacy & Encryption
AES-256-GCM, in your browser, with a key only you derive.

- ·No accounts, no telemetry, no analytics, no cookies, no third-party scripts.
- ·IndexedDB storage with a localStorage fallback. Encrypted before it touches the disk.
- ·The file is not minified. You can read the source. We'd rather you trust it than us.
What It Does Not Do
- ✕No word counts chasing you across the screen.
- ✕No formatting toolbar wrestling your thoughts into neatness.
- ✕No cloud sync. No distant servers. Your words stay yours.
- ✕No social sharing. Your vulnerability is not content.
- ✕No AI assistant finishing your sentences.
- ✕No streak counters. No guilt. No gamification.
- ✕No subscriptions. No mood trackers. No noise.

Is vent journaling good or bad for anger?
People and traditions disagree, and we're not the referee. If anger feels unmanageable, a professional is the right reader — this is just a private page that won't flinch.
Can I delete a vent after writing it?
Yes. Deletion is real: there's no server copy, no sync history, no undo on our side. Some people delete ritually; some keep everything.
Will anything analyze the sentiment of what I write?
Nothing. No mood detection, no flagged words, no insights. The journal doesn't have an opinion about your evening.
