Letters you write to send nowhere.

There are letters that need to be written and must never be sent. To the person who left. To the person you were at nineteen. To a parent, living or not, with everything finally in the right order. The practice is old and it works the same way it always has: you say all of it, address it, and send it nowhere.

The one thing an unsent letter cannot survive is the possibility of being read. Written where anyone might find it — a drafts folder, a notes app, a synced document — the letter hedges. The true sentence stays unwritten and the whole exercise politely fails.

The Sealed Journal is a good drawer for these. Encrypted with your passphrase, stored nowhere but your device, with no send button anywhere in it — the letter structurally cannot escape. Write it complete. Seal it. Some people read theirs back years later; some never do. Both are fine endings for a letter that was always addressed to the writing of it.
