# A journal for the ones who carry the ward home.

_Where the debrief nobody schedules can happen._

Medicine produces experiences that need somewhere to go. The case that went wrong, the one that went right and still won't leave you, the family meeting, the 4 a.m. decision made on incomplete information — the profession schedules no debrief for any of it, and most of it can't be said aloud anywhere.

A journal is the oldest tool for this, and doctors have kept them for as long as there have been doctors. The modern complication is where the writing lives. Reflections about your working life sit badly in a consumer cloud app — not because you'd write identifiable details, but because the ambient possibility of a reader changes what gets written, and this writing only helps when it's whole.
